Other consequences include difficulty shifting gears and an increased risk of the engine stalling, which could lead to crashes. Ford first became aware of the issue on April 30, 2024, after receiving two reports of fires and one of smoke emanating from vehicles.
The investigation by Ford identified that the fire hazard arose because of a missing or improperly installed barrel nut. This defect allowed the clutch pressure line to contact hot exhaust components. As a remedial action, starting June 17, Ford will notify affected owners by mail to have their vehicles inspected and repaired at local dealers.
Ford has confirmed that it is not aware of any injuries or accidents caused by this problem so far.
Owners of the affected vehicles can expect to receive more details about the recall process in their notifications. They will be directed to visit their local dealers where necessary repairs or adjustments will be made free of charge.
