Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, stated on social media X last Saturday that there will be no refreshed Model Y launching this year.

"No Model Y 'refresh' is coming out this year", Musk said, adding that Tesla continuously improves its cars, "so even a car that is 6 months newer will be a little better."

Tesla's policy of continuously improving its vehicles stands unchanged, despite this announcement. On previous occasions, Musk has said that Tesla makes improvements so that "even a car that is 6 months newer will be a little better."

The automotive industry currently faces several challenges such as high-interest rates and a decline in consumer appetite for big-ticket items. Additionally, there is stiff competition from rivals in China who are introducing cheaper models. These conditions make it less favorable for launching a major new update.

Tesla saw global vehicle deliveries fall for the first time in nearly four years during the first quarter of the year.

Last year, the media reported that Tesla was preparing a production redesign of the Model Y, with the goal of starting production in 2024.
