Car photo spies were lucky enough to catch a prototype of the new Dacia Bigster. This car is based on the 2021 concept of the same name. It will become a production vehicle in 2025.

These spy photos show the similarities between the Dacia Bigster prototype and the third-generation Dacia Duster unveiled last November. Both cars share a similar headlamp and grille design, angular wheel arches and a muscular rear quarter. That said, the Bigster looks distinctly longer.

And not just looks, as the Bigster is set to be the Romanian brand's largest model from the Renault Group. Perhaps, thanks to the longer rear overhang, it will even get a third row of seats.

Apparently, Dacia plans to equip the Bigster with powertrains borrowed from the Duster range. However, it will exclude the less powerful 99bhp 1.0-litre TCe 100 Bi-Fuel motor. Expected variants include a turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 48-volt hybrid system producing 128bhp and a more powerful 1.6-litre engine supplemented by two electric motors producing around 138bhp.

Despite entering this new, larger segment, Dacia is keen to maintain its low-cost approach. However, even with a starting price of around €23,000, the new Bigster will be the most expensive car in the Dacia range.
