Volvo Cars USA national media relations manager Russell Datz confirmed to Road & Track that the company is saying goodbye to the S60 sedan for the U.S. and some other markets to focus on the new EX90.
However, this doesn't mean the death of the Volvo S60 globally. As Carscoops managed to find out, the sedan will continue to be produced in China. Although such cars are destined for China and Australia.
Also, the Volvo V60 station wagon remains in production. Volvo Cars claims that there is nothing threatening the V60 right now.
Volvo S60 in the US
The Volvo S60 was in 2018 the first Volvo car built in the US. In 2023, Volvo sold 10,357 units of the Volvo S60 in the US. That's significantly more than the 6,150 units in 2022, and only slightly less than the 10,550 units sold in 2021.
Still, these are modest numbers. The S60 ended 2023 in fourth place in Volvo's own rankings. The three most popular models were crossovers, with the XC90 taking the top spot with 39,920 sales.
