The new Bentley Continental GT Speed marks a significant transition from its predecessor. It features an ultra-performance hybrid engine combining a V-8 combustion engine and an electric motor. This powerful setup delivers a staggering 771 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. In comparison, the outgoing W-12 engine produced 740 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque.
In addition to impressive power, the new model includes technological advances such as four-wheel steering, all-wheel drive with torque vectoring, dual-valve dampers, a limited-slip differential, and 48-volt electric anti-roll technology. Bentley claims this is their most dynamically capable road car in their 105-year history. It can achieve over 50 miles on battery alone, according to the WLTP cycle.
Despite its hefty weight projection of over 5,000 pounds-surpassing its previous V-8 model that weighed nearly 4,800 pounds-the new Continental GT Speed maintains its status as a luxury cruiser rather than an agile sports car. Bentley also announced that no future models of the Continental GT will feature twelve-cylinder engines.
Following this coupe debut in June, Bentley plans to release a convertible version soon after. This strategic move ensures that enthusiasts of both coupe and convertible models will have powerful options to consider among Bentley's luxuriously dynamic offerings.
