The Tesla Model Y has been ranked as the most American-made car, surpassing even the Ford F-150, according to the 2024 Cars.com American-Made Index. This annual report evaluates vehicles based on factors like engine origins, parts content, and assembly location.

Cars.com's index measures over 400 models, emphasizing components sourced and assembled in the U.S., among other criteria. This year, the Tesla Model Y emerged first among all entries thanks to its high U.S.-based production elements. Notably, other Tesla models performed well too: The Model S ranked fourth and the Model X ninth.

Several vehicles were disqualified from indexing due to various reasons such as excessive weight or limited production runs. Some excluded names include BMW XM and GMC Hummer EV Pickup.
