Tesla has announced two major recalls for the Cybertruck pickup truck. The first to replace windscreen wiper motor. The second to repair or replace a part of the bed trim that may have peeled off.

First on the list of Tesla Cybertruck problems is the windscreen wiper motor, which may have stopped working due to too much current. The recall affects 11,688 examples of the Cybertruck manufactured between November 2023 and June 2024 and requires owners to visit a service centre to replace the failed component.

In parallel, Tesla is recalling 11,383 examples of the Cybertruck manufactured between November and May due to a less dangerous but still nasty problem with a piece of trim that is fixed to the bed with adhesive. Service centre technicians will check the integrity and decide on a case-by-case basis whether to replace the trim piece or re-glue with new adhesive.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Tesla had halted production of the Cybertruck due to a faulty windscreen wiper motor. One owner reported on a topical forum that he had to park for 3.5 hours and wait for roadside assistance from Tesla after he was caught in a downpour and the windscreen wiper stopped working.

This isn't the first serious Tesla Cybertruck recall that can't be resolved with a simple over-the-air software update. In April, nearly 4,000 electric pickup trucks were recalled due to the risk of the accelerator pedal jamming.
