Two weeks after Fiat showed the world the all-new Grande Panda, a base version of the model has been spotted in Italy. This is likely to be the yet-to-be unveiled Fiat Grande Panda RED, which boasts a spartan specification with white steel rims.

The car was spotted on the streets of Turin in the early hours of the morning without any sign of camouflage. Fiat is known for using new models to drive in public locations during photo shoots.

Photos of the Grande Panda RED were posted on Instagram by user Elena Scandurra. The car in these photos differs significantly from the previously published official photos of the Fiat Grande Panda in the expensive trim.

The most noticeable change is the white steel wheels, reminiscent of the original Fiat Panda. These wheels are obviously smaller than the 17-inch on the more expensive car, but they still look stunning. Despite the basic equipment, the Grande Panda Red still has fancy LED headlights and taillights, showing that the era of halogen headlights is almost over.

Other differences include the absence of roof rails, parking sensors and decorative plates on the bumpers, which have been replaced with unpainted plastic.

Fiat has yet to officially announce the Grande Panda's specifications, other than confirming that it will be available with mild hybrid and all-electric powertrains. The 3.99 metre long model is expected to be unified in terms of powertrains with the Citroen C3 and e-C3, as they are built on the same Smart Car platform from Stellantis.

The Fiat Grande Panda could be launched as early as 11 July 2024, coinciding with the Italian brand's 125th anniversary. It is hoped that Fiat will then show the new model including the inside, as well as detailing the available powertrain options and pricing. The Grande Panda is expected to be the most affordable European Fiat, especially in the mild-hybrid version.
