Following Porsche's recall of over 30,000 Taycans in the U.S. for a brake issue, the related Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT are now also being recalled for the same problem.

Audi's recall, as detailed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), is due to the front brake hoses potentially cracking from excessive bending and material strain. Cracks can lead to brake fluid leaks, extended brake pedal travel, increased braking distances, and possible front brake failure if all fluid leaks out. Owners might receive a warning message about low brake fluid levels.

The recall affects e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT models in the U.S. and Canada. In the U.S., it involves 2022-2024 e-tron GTs built from March 26, 2021, to June 12, 2024, and 2022-2024 RS e-tron GTs from March 18, 2021, to June 12, 2024, totaling 9,653 vehicles. In Canada, 536 e-tron GTs and 211 RS e-tron GTs are affected.

Audi was informed of the issue by Porsche in September last year. Both companies conducted tests and simulations before deciding on the recall. Audi knows of two warranty claims related to the hoses but no reported injuries or crashes.

U.S. owners will be notified of the recall on August 16, 2024. Dealers will replace the front brake hoses with new, improved ones, similar to those Porsche will use for the Taycan. These updated hoses have been in production since last month.
