Cupra Terramar spotted without camouflage

Cupra, the sporty Spanish brand spun off from Seat, is set to strengthen its lineup with new SUVs, including the Terramar, which has been spotted completely undisguised.

This model is Cupra's response to the new VW Tiguan, although the Terramar has a much more aggressive design.

Both the Terramar and Tiguan are built on VW's MQB Evo platform and fall into the compact SUV category. However, the Terramar features a bold black grille, menacing swept-back headlights with three LED triangles for DRLs on each side, a more angular rear LED light bar, and a prominent diffuser under the bumper, giving it a more aggressive look compared to the Tiguan's softer curves.

The 4,500 mm Terramar will offer seating for five and will use a range of 1.5 and 2.0-liter combustion engines, some with mild-hybrid assistance and plug-in hybrid versions offering up to 113 km of electric range. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission will be standard, with options for front- or all-wheel drive depending on the engine.

The Terramar is set to debut in August and will be produced alongside the Audi Q3 and Cupra Formentor in Hungary.
