The vast majority of battery electric vehicle (BEV) drivers are highly unlikely to switch back to combustion-powered vehicles, according to recent research by the Fully Charged Show. The study found that over 93% of fully electric car drivers plan to "dump the pump" permanently, with 99% recommending the switch to BEVs.
Additionally, the research revealed that 92% of respondents feel governments are not doing enough to promote BEV sales, and 95% believe that mainstream media does not accurately represent their experiences. The survey involved nearly 9,000 BEV owners and drivers from the UK, North America, Australia, Europe, and other regions.
Key findings include:
- 59% of drivers have moved away from their historically preferred car brand after switching to BEVs.
- 55% now prefer the new brand they switched to.
- The study supports previous surveys by Zapmap and EVA England, which also showed a strong preference for BEVs over internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
Dan Caesar, CEO of the Fully Charged Show, emphasized that despite economic and political challenges and misinformation, those who try and buy BEVs overwhelmingly find them superior to traditional vehicles. He noted that the growing availability of affordable new and used BEVs ensures continued growth in the sector.
