Mugen has a long history of creating tuning and styling parts for Honda vehicles, ranging from the NSX to the CR-V. One of their standout creations is the modified Honda S660 roadster, particularly a striking bright yellow version currently offered for sale by UK-based Japanese car specialist Torque GT.

This 2016 model comes in Carnival Yellow II paint, making it eye-catching even in its stock form amidst typical Japanese traffic dominated by sedans and kei cars. However, this S660 has been extensively modified with Mugen parts, turning it into a head-turning spectacle.

The modifications include new bodywork such as a hood, grille, fenders, and side skirts. It also features 15-inch front and 16-inch rear forged wheels, complemented by a Mugen sports suspension kit with performance dampers. A Mugen diffuser and carbon tail spoiler add a sporty touch to the rear, while the standout feature is the Carbon Aero Engine Hood, a large slatted panel covering the mid-mounted engine, priced at £4,493 ($5,730).

Inside, the car boasts a Mugen quick shifter, Mugen floor mats, and a limited-edition red- and orange leather steering wheel with a carbon top and the Mugen name visible through the windshield. The total cost of these Mugen parts is a staggering £20,577 ($26,242), according to Torque GT.

Despite all the visual and handling enhancements, the 658 cc turbocharged triple engine under the carbon cover remains unchanged, delivering the same 63 hp (64 PS) to comply with Japan’s kei car regulations. However, this particular S660 comes with a six-speed manual transmission, allowing it to rev to 7,700 rpm, unlike the CVT variant, which has a lower rev limit.

This 21,000-mile (34,000 km) S660 was displayed at Torque GT's Goodwood Festival of Speed stand last year and is now for sale for £29,990 ($38,000) in the UK, where the S660 was never officially sold. While this is a steep price for a small car with limited power, the Mugen modifications ensure it delivers the attention-grabbing presence of a supercar at a fraction of the cost.
