Tesla is reportedly delaying the unveiling of its robotaxi by around two months. According to Bloomberg, unnamed insiders indicated that the presentation, initially expected in August, is now planned for October.
Elon Musk had previously announced the prioritization of the robotaxi in response to delays in the development of a $25,000 compact vehicle. “Elon’s directive is to go all in on robotaxi,” one source noted. Both the robotaxi and the compact car are based on the same technology platform. The compact car was initially scheduled for a mid-2025 release, but its launch date is now uncertain.
Neither Tesla nor Musk has commented on the report. However, the news prompted a surge in shares of potential taxi rivals Uber and Lyft.
