Carscoops reached out to Musk and Tesla after the Bloomberg report on July 11. The report mentioned that Musk’s request left engineers “speechless” in a positive way, with sources calling the new engineering “next-level stuff.” Initially, this insider information seemed speculative, but Musk himself responded to a video by former lawyer Warren Redlich, who shared these insights.
Musk stated, “Requested what I think is an important design change to the front, and extra time allows us to show off a few other things.” Redlich also mentioned that the event’s postponement is not definite, as Musk urged the team to complete the changes promptly. Thus, the timeline for the robotaxi reveal remains uncertain.
It’s possible that Tesla might still unveil something on August 8 or release another teaser to keep fans and shareholders engaged. However, the late-stage design change suggests that full-scale production of the Cybercab is unlikely to commence soon.
