Hyundai is set to launch its three-row electric SUV later this year, with the vehicle expected to be available for sale in 2025. The SUV, potentially named the Ioniq 9, is anticipated to be Hyundai's counterpart to the Kia EV9 and an electrified alternative to the Palisade.

Recent spy shots have shown Hyundai testing this new electric vehicle on U.S. roads, though the design has been well-concealed. It is believed that the SUV will draw significant design inspiration from the 2021 Ioniq Seven concept, featuring a novel greenhouse and other distinctive elements. Hyundai's approach to the Ioniq lineup has emphasized unique styling for each model, and the new SUV is expected to continue this trend.

The 2025 Ioniq 9 is likely to be built on Hyundai's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which it will share with the Kia EV9. This means it could have similar powertrain and battery configurations. The base model of the EV9 offers rear-wheel drive with 215 horsepower, while the top-end version has all-wheel drive, 379 horsepower, and a larger battery. Hyundai might use these same configurations for the Ioniq 9, but official details have yet to be confirmed.

Hyundai has announced that the new SUV will be unveiled later this year, with the official name being the 2025 Ioniq three-row SUV (EV). While the exact date for when it will reach dealerships is not yet known, it is expected to be on sale early next year, especially considering it shares hardware with the Kia EV9.
