Kia offers two versions of the Sportage: a smaller crossover for Europe and a larger model for America. Both are due for a facelift, and spies have caught the European variant testing in Germany.

Despite heavy camouflage, it's clear that the crossover will feature a new front fascia with a wide grille containing horizontal bars. Vertical headlights with prominent daytime running lights are positioned at the outer edges. A redesigned bumper with new intakes and stacked fog lights is also visible.

The rest of the design seems mostly unchanged, but updated taillights peek out from under the camouflage. The rear bumper appears new, featuring slender reflectors.

Although the interior wasn’t photographed, it’s likely to include updated displays and modernized switchgear. Enhanced driver assistance systems may also be introduced.

Powertrain details are still under wraps, but the current model offers several options. The base engine is a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with mild hybrid technology, producing 148 hp and paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

There’s also a hybrid version with a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine, an electric motor, and a 1.49 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, delivering a combined output of 226 hp.

Additionally, a plug-in hybrid variant features a more powerful motor and a larger 13.8 kWh battery pack, offering a combined output of 261 hp and an electric-only range of up to 69 km.
