While the development of this small, budget-friendly EV involves collaboration with an as-yet-unnamed Chinese partner, its production will be based in Europe.

In late 2023, Renault previewed the upcoming Twingo, a fully electric vehicle inspired by the original Twingo's design. Positioned below the 5 E-Tech Electric, the new Twingo is expected to have a starting price of less than €20,000. Despite initial negotiations with Volkswagen for development, Renault ultimately partnered with a Chinese company to develop the new Twingo.

Production will take place at Renault's Revoz factory in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. The Slovenian news agency STA reported that Renault and the Slovenian government have signed a memorandum of understanding to facilitate this project. The Slovenian government will invest in the project, although the exact amount remains undisclosed. Production is set to begin in 2026, with an initial output target of 150,000 electric Twingos per year.

This marks a continuation of Renault's use of the Revoz factory, which previously produced the third generation Twingo and Twingo Electric. Currently, the Revoz factory builds the Renault Clio, alongside production facilities in France and Turkey.
