UAW President Shawn Fain, who spoke with Harris last week, praised her record of supporting the working class and stated she "will stand shoulder to shoulder with us in our war on corporate greed."
The 370,000-member UAW's executive board voted to endorse Harris after endorsing President Joe Biden's reelection bid in January. Biden withdrew from the race on July 21.
Many UAW members are based in Michigan, where the union headquarters is located. Both Biden and former President Donald Trump have campaigned in the state.
Fain highlighted Harris's efforts against corporate price-gouging, profiteering, and unfair trade deals. He also noted her support for auto workers, including walking the picket line with them in 2019.
Harris is expected to rally with UAW members in Detroit on August 7, according to Fain.
Trump campaign officials were unavailable for comment on the endorsement of Harris.
