The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has started looking into possible seatbelt problems in Hyundai Palisades. This affects 332,288 vehicles made from 2020 to 2023.

NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation got 37 reports about seatbelts coming undone on their own. This could be dangerous if it happens during a crash, like in a pile-up on the freeway.

Seatbelts are still one of the best ways to stay safe in a car, even with all the new electronic safety features. That's why this investigation is important.

Right now, NHTSA is doing a first check. If they need to, they'll take a closer look. If the engineers find a problem with the Palisade's seatbelts, they might announce a recall.

Drivers who've had issues might worry about their car's safety. It could take a while before everything gets sorted out.

For now, NHTSA will keep checking the seatbelt issue. They'll let us know what they find out.

In a separate issue, Hyundai already recalled about 4,000 of its 2024 Palisades. The problem was with valve springs in the 3.8-liter V6 engine. These springs could break and damage the engine block. Hyundai says a batch of springs got damaged during production.
