The 2025 BMW M5 Touring will pack a punch with its plug-in hybrid V8 engine. This powerhouse is expected to deliver a whopping 727 horsepower, making it a force to be reckoned with on the road.
From the spy shots, we can see that the front of the car has a partially enclosed grille and familiar-looking headlights. The lower section sports angular air curtains and an aggressive intake, hinting at the car's performance potential. BMW has fitted the M5 Touring with lightweight wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires, and the door handles are flush with the body for a sleek look.
A charging port on the side of the car confirms its plug-in hybrid nature. At the back, a four-tailpipe exhaust system rounds out the sporty appearance.
Inside, drivers can look forward to a sport steering wheel and M multifunction seats. The cabin will likely feature Aluminum Rhombicle trim, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 14.9-inch infotainment system. For those who need to haul stuff, the M5 Touring offers plenty of space – with the rear seats folded down, you'll have about 1,700 liters (60 cubic feet) of cargo room.
Under the hood, the M5 Touring combines a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine with an electric motor. This setup works with an eight-speed automatic transmission and sends power to all four wheels. The total output is expected to hit 727 horsepower and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. A 14.8 kWh battery should provide around 40 km (25 miles) of electric-only driving.
Right now, BMW is putting the M5 Touring through its paces in pre-production testing. The car in the spy shots was only half covered, showing off its high-performance braking system with bronze calipers.
The M5 Touring shares many design elements and its powertrain with its sedan sibling. We'll have to wait until the official reveal to see the final product, but it's shaping up to be an impressive blend of performance and practicality.
