Skoda UK has created a special Superb that packs a punch under the hood. The company unveiled a one-of-a-kind Superb Sleeper Edition, turning an everyday family car into a high-performance machine.

The Sleeper Edition starts life as a regular Mk3 Superb estate in the top-of-the-range Laurin & Klement 4x4 trim. Skoda then worked with RE Performance to give this unassuming car some serious muscle.

Under the bonnet, the standard 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine got a major boost. The team swapped out the original turbocharger for a bigger Garrett Powermax unit and upgraded the intercooler. They also tweaked the fuel system and replaced parts of the exhaust.

These changes pumped up the power from 280 PS to a whopping 477 PS. The torque also jumped from 350 Nm to 661 Nm (from 258 lb ft to 488 lb ft). That's supercar territory in a family wagon.

Despite all this extra oomph, Skoda kept the factory exhaust box. This means the Sleeper Edition looks almost identical to a regular Superb Estate. Only the keen-eyed will spot the 50mm lower ride height and the bright red AP Racing brake calipers peeking out from behind the wheels.

The car's stealthy appearance extends to its Royal Green metallic paint and Cognac leather interior. These features are available on standard Superbs, helping this special edition blend in.

RE Performance, the company behind this transformation, knows a thing or two about making fast Skodas. They've previously modified an Octavia to hit 365 km/h on the Bonneville salt flats.

The Mk3 Superb recently ended its production run after selling 860,000 units worldwide. This one-off Sleeper Edition serves as a fitting send-off for a popular model.

Sadly, Skoda won't be selling this beast to the public. It's a unique creation to showcase what's possible with the Superb platform. For now, Superb owners will have to settle for admiring this sleeper from afar.
