Ford has just rolled out a new version of its Everest SUV in Australia. The Everest Tremor is an upgraded model with better off-road abilities.

The Tremor is based on the third-generation Everest, which Ford introduced in 2022. It's got some serious upgrades that make it more capable when the pavement ends. Ford has given it new Bilstein dampers and springs, which work together to improve the ride both on and off the road. The SUV also gets General Grabber AT3 tires and an extra inch of ground clearance compared to the regular Everest.

One of the coolest features of the Tremor is its Rock Crawl mode. Ford borrowed this from the Ranger Raptor, and it'll help drivers navigate tough terrain. The company has also made some changes to the Tremor's looks. There's a new grille with a honeycomb pattern, built-in LED lights, and heavy-duty side steps. A steel bash plate adds protection underneath.

Inside, the Tremor gets leather seats with special embossing, Ebony accents, and all-weather floor mats. It's not all rugged though - there's dual-zone climate control and an electrically adjustable driver's seat for comfort.

Under the hood, the Everest Tremor packs a punch. It's got a 3.0-liter V-6 turbodiesel engine that puts out 247 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. That power goes through a 10-speed automatic transmission to a four-wheel-drive system. If you need to tow, the Tremor can handle up to 7,716 pounds.

Ford's offering the Tremor in an exclusive Command Grey paint job. Buyers can also add optional packages like Rough Terrain, Touring, Premium, and Towing to customize their ride.

The Everest Tremor starts at 76,590 AUD, which is about $51,700 in U.S. dollars. That's actually about $5,500 less than the base Ranger Raptor in Australia. But don't get too excited if you're in the States - Ford isn't planning to bring the Everest Tremor to the U.S. market.

Ford will start building the Everest Tremor in November. It's a step closer to a full Raptor version of the Everest, which Ford isn't making right now. For Aussie drivers who want a rugged family SUV that can handle tough terrain, the Everest Tremor might be just the ticket.
