Mercedes-Benz is teaming up with Boosteroid to bring cloud gaming to their cars. The luxury car maker unveiled this new feature at Gamescom, aiming to make in-car entertainment more exciting.

Starting next year, some Mercedes-Benz vehicles will offer cloud gaming through their MBUX infotainment systems. The new MBUX Entertainment Package Plus will give drivers access to over 1,000 games, including popular titles like Fortnite and Sea of Thieves. Drivers will be able to download this feature from the in-car App Store in vehicles with the third-generation MBUX system.

Mercedes-Benz showed off this new gaming feature at Gamescom, where visitors could see it in action in a Mercedes-Benz E-Class at the SK Gaming booth. However, there's a catch - you can only play games when the car is parked.

Magnus Östberg, Chief Software Officer at Mercedes-Benz, explained the company's approach:

"The cloud-based approach to gaming is the ideal way to bring triple-A gaming to our customers and gaming fans alike."

This move comes as cloud gaming grows more popular. Experts think that by the early 2030s, 90 percent of gamers will prefer cloud-based gaming. By partnering with Boosteroid, the world's largest independent cloud gaming provider, Mercedes-Benz is positioning itself as an early adopter in the luxury car segment.

Mercedes-Benz plans to roll out this gaming feature in Europe, North America, and South America by 2025. It's a sign that car makers are looking for new ways to entertain drivers and passengers, even when the car isn't moving.
