The GR Corolla's only been around since 2022, but Toyota's not resting on its laurels. They've already added an eight-speed automatic transmission and boosted the engine. Now, these spy shots hint at more changes coming.
The prototype caught testing had most of its body on show, with just the front bumper under wraps. It looked pretty much the same as what's in showrooms now, but there was one noticeable difference - no sensors in sight.
This minimal disguise could mean we're looking at a small update or maybe even a new special edition. It's probably an early prototype, so there might be more changes in store that we can't see yet.
The regular Corolla's been with us since 2018, so both it and the GR version are getting a bit long in the tooth. Toyota's been working hard to keep them fresh, though.
For 2025, the GR Corolla's set to get a new front bumper to help it stay cool and slice through the air better. They're also throwing in launch control, sprucing up the interior, and tweaking the suspension with new rebound springs and updated rear coils and stabilizers.
Under the hood, the turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine's getting a power boost. It'll now pump out 300 hp (224 kW/304 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. That's a nice bump of 22 lb-ft (30 Nm) over the current model.
We'll have to wait and see what Toyota's really cooking up with this camouflaged GR Corolla. Whether it's a facelift or a special edition, it looks like they're keeping the hot hatch excitement going strong.
