Stellantis, Jeep's parent company, has a long history of supplying vehicles to law enforcement. They've already got specially-equipped Chargers and Durangos on the streets. Now, they're adding the Wagoneer L to the mix.
The upgrade package for the Wagoneer L comes with all the bells and whistles you'd expect on a police vehicle. It's got flashing red and blue lights hidden behind the grille, under the windshield, and in the rear quarter windows. There's also a new siren and speaker system to make sure everyone hears them coming.
Inside, there's a rear gun vault for secure storage and a power distribution center to run all the extra equipment. The package also includes the necessary wiring for the light system, making installation a breeze.
Under the hood, the Wagoneer L packs a punch with its twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine. It churns out 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque, all managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission. Agencies can choose between 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains, depending on their needs.
Despite its impressive specs, the Wagoneer L SSV isn't pursuit-rated. It's more suited for patrol duties and transport rather than high-speed chases.
The Wagoneer L SSV doesn't skimp on safety features either. It comes equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, eight airbags, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross-Path Detection. There's also Electronic Stability Control, Active Lane Management, and a 360-degree Surround-View Camera System. A head-up display and front and rear park assist system round out the safety package.
This new offering from Jeep will join the ranks of other SSVs like the Ford F-150 SSV, Ford Expedition SSV, and Ram 1500 SSV. It's clear that law enforcement agencies will have plenty of options when it comes to choosing their next patrol vehicle.
