The two companies announced their partnership in mid-July 2023. They aim to set up 170 locations with 400 charging points throughout Europe. The plan includes 125 sites in Germany and 80 in other European countries by 2025. These charging stations will be located at existing MAN service branches and will be open to commercial vehicles from all manufacturers.
The Berlin-Wildau site sits right next to the A10 and A13 motorways near the Schönefelder Kreuz junction. It's equipped with two Hypercharger 400 charging stations made by Alpitronic. These stations can deliver up to 400 kilowatts of power.
In the next few weeks, MAN and E.ON will open two more locations. One will be in Karlsfeld near Munich, close to the A99 motorway, with four charging points. The other will be in Fürstenwalde, Brandenburg, near the A12 motorway, with two charging points.
The charging stations use the CCS connector standard. In the future, MAN and E.ON plan to upgrade the network to megawatt charging using the MCS standard.
This initiative is part of a broader industry push towards electrification. MAN's parent company, Traton, has also joined forces with Daimler Truck and Volvo Group in the Milence joint venture. This partnership aims to install 1,700 high-speed truck chargers across Europe.
