Kia has rolled out a new over-the-air (OTA) update for its vehicles, packing in 153 changes to improve the driving experience. The update is available for telematics-equipped Kia models from 2022 onwards.

The latest update brings some big improvements. SoundCloud, a music streaming service with over 375 million tracks from 40 million artists, has been added. It joins Amazon Music as the second streaming option for Kia drivers.

For electric vehicle owners, Kia has made the EV Route Planner even better. The planner now has a split screen, making it easier to see arrival time, battery charge, and charging point info all at once. If you're heading somewhere your current charge won't reach, the system will automatically add a charging stop to your route.

Kia has also added new voice commands. Drivers can now ask for flight information, date and time, adjust ambient lighting, and get cluster information just by speaking. The voice recognition system now works with Amazon Music too.

Other useful changes include activating battery conditioning when you search for charging stations by voice, and prioritizing nearby EV stations over parking icons when you hit the parking button.

Kia offers a one-year free trial that includes two free OTA updates for navigation maps and infotainment. After that, the service costs 89 euro per year for two updates, though prices may vary by country.

The update process has gotten faster too. Kia says the bandwidth for updates is now three times wider than before. Drivers can start the update using the Kia Connect App.
