Scout's return marks a big comeback. The last Scout, made by International Harvester, rolled off the production line in Fort Wayne, Indiana, back in 1980. That's a gap of 44 years.
The new Scout models share some key features. They both sport similar front ends with a protruding bumper, a horizontal bar on the grille, and a relatively flat hood that looks a bit like the Ford Bronco's.
The SUV has a shape that might remind you of a Range Rover, with an angular rear end and a pronounced bumper. On the other hand, the pickup truck has a flatter roof, a crew cab setup, and a big bed with an upright rear window.
Scout's reaching out to its potential customers, thanking them for "keeping the Scout Spirit burning from one generation to the next." They've also put out a video called "Encore" that's full of nostalgia, showing love to the "passionate community of makers, dreamers and restorers." But don't expect to see the new models in this video - it's all about the good old days.
Looking ahead, Scout plans to start making these electric vehicles in 2026. They're aiming for a starting price of around $50,000, which would make them a lot cheaper than the GMC Hummer EV lineup.
