Skoda's sporty Kodiaq vRS is getting ready to hit the roads. The second-generation model has been spotted testing near the Nurburgring in Germany, with very little camouflage.

Skoda showed off the new Kodiaq last fall, but the sporty vRS version was missing from the lineup. Now, it looks like the wait is almost over for performance SUV fans.

The test car keeps the split headlights and vertical grille slats from the standard Kodiaq. But it's got some new tricks up its sleeve. There's a deeper lower grille (though it's still partly hidden), more aggressive vents on the sides of the bumper, and black sill panels with a wider, flatter bottom edge. The wheels have a more dynamic design, and at the back, there are two rectangular exhaust tips.

Under the hood, we're likely to see the same 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that powers the VW Golf GTI and Octavia vRS. In the Kodiaq, it'll probably pump out about 265 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque. That power will go to all four wheels, which should help the big SUV sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in the low 6-second range.

Given how little disguise is left on the test car, and that it's been a year since the regular Kodiaq debuted, we'll probably see the official reveal of the vRS version very soon. Keep your eyes peeled for more news in the coming weeks or months.
