Hyundai has a new electric crossover in Japan. The Kona Mauna Loa is a limited edition of their popular Kona model. Only 30 will be made.

The Mauna Loa isn't your average Kona. It's got an off-road makeover that'll make you think you've stepped back into the 1990s. Hyundai's taken inspiration from Earth's largest active volcano for this one, giving it a rugged look that's ready for adventure.

Let's talk price. The Mauna Loa will set you back 4.95 million yen, which is about $32,500. That's $2,800 more than the electric Kona Voyage, but you're getting a lot of unique features for that extra cash.

The exterior's where things get really interesting. They've painted it in a color called Mirage Green, but that's just the start. The bumpers and side skirts have this cool, uneven finish with a textured look. It's not just for show either - that paint's scratch-resistant, perfect for when you're out exploring.

Hyundai's added mudguards to all four wheels, black weatherstripping, and dark badges. They've even thrown in some standard roof bars. It's like they've taken everything you'd want for an outdoor adventure and baked it right into the design.

The wheels and tires are where the Mauna Loa really stands out. They've gone for smaller 16-inch wheels, compared to the regular Kona's 17-inchers. These matte black wheels, supplied by Weds, look like beadlock wheels - perfect for that off-road vibe. They're wrapped in Toyo Open Country all-terrain tires, sized at 205/65 R16.

Step inside, and you'll find a green and neon yellow color scheme. The seats are leather, which looks great but might not be the most practical choice for outdoor adventures. But don't worry, they've thought of that too - the floor mats and cargo mat are made of easy-to-clean rubber.

For the outdoorsy types, Hyundai's offering some cool accessories. You can get a folding chair, storage pockets for the back of the front seats, and two differently sized cargo boxes. It's like they've thought of everything you might need for a camping trip.

The Kona Mauna Loa packs a 64.8 kWh battery that will get you about 336 miles (541 kilometers) on a single charge.
