Hyundai has rolled out a new electric vehicle prototype called the RN24. This 'rolling lab' model follows in the footsteps of the RN22e and N Vision 74, and it's designed to test cutting-edge tech for future high-performance electric cars.

The RN24 is a testbed for advanced technologies and motorsport features. Hyundai's goal was to pack the most powerful powertrain into the smallest possible package. They've built it on a custom World Rally Championship-inspired EV chassis.

The car borrows its powertrain from the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, packing a punch with 641 hp. It also uses the Ioniq 5 N's 84 kWh battery. But here's where it gets interesting - the RN24's wheelbase is 13.3 inches (340 mm) shorter than the Ioniq 5 N.

Hyundai has loaded the RN24 with some cool features. There's a WRC Powertrain Drive Control Logic system that lets drivers tweak power, acceleration sensitivity, regenerative brake sensitivity, and power balance right from the steering wheel. It's just like what you'd find in Hyundai's current WRC cars.

The car also has a Rally Mode that optimizes torque distribution, taking cues from the i20 N Rally 1 WRC. And if you're in the mood for some sideways action, there's an e-Handbrake to help you initiate powerslides.

Sound is a big deal in this car too. The RN24 has a new version of the N Active Sound+ system from the Ioniq 5 N. It's got two side speakers, and get this - the rear fenders double as soundboxes to amp up the soundtrack.

Visually, the RN24 stands out with its exoskeleton-style exposed roll cage. The rear wing? It's the same one you'll see on Hyundai's TCR race cars.

Despite all this tech, the RN24 is no heavyweight. It's estimated to weigh about 4,144 lbs (1,880 kg), which is 771 lbs (350 kg) lighter than the Ioniq 5 N.
