Volvo owners will need an adapter to use these stations. The company will sell these adapters through dealers for $230, starting to ship on November 18. There's a catch, though - the new EX30 model isn't part of this rollout yet. Volvo will let EX30 owners know when adapters are ready for their cars.
Looking ahead, Volvo plans to make things even simpler. From 2025, new Volvo EVs will come with the right adapter built-in.
To use a Supercharger, Volvo drivers will need the Tesla app on their phones. If they prefer, they can still find other charging spots using the Volvo Cars app.
Volvo isn't alone in this move. Other car makers like Ford, Hyundai, and General Motors have also started letting their EVs use Tesla's charging network. Even Scout, a newly brought-back brand, plans to do the same.
Polestar, Volvo's electric car offshoot, also got access to Superchargers today. They're following pretty much the same plan as Volvo.
