Google Maps is getting some cool new features just in time for the holidays. These updates will make life easier for folks planning road trips in electric cars, using public transportation, and looking for fun things to do.

If you're thinking about hitting the road in your electric vehicle, Google Maps has got you covered. You'll be able to plan your route on your phone, including all the charging stops you'll need. The best part? You can send this route straight to your car if it has Google built-in. The app will even suggest charging stations that work with your car's specific plug type. This takes a lot of the stress out of planning long trips in an EV.

For those who rely on public transit, Google Maps is introducing a new way to report and view delays. When you're at a transit station, you'll see a "Report delay" button. This lets you share info about any holdups you're experiencing. Other users can then see these reports, along with data from local agencies. The app will also show helpful details like where subway station entrances are and suggest other routes if your usual one is backed up.

But that's not all. Google Maps is also rolling out tools to help you plan shopping trips, avoid bad weather, and find fun activities in your area.

These new features will start showing up for users in the US in the next few days. Google hasn't said when they'll be available in other countries yet.
