This year, a jury of 60 experts from 23 European countries selected the best cars among 42 models. The first test drives took place in September in Denmark. According to the voting results, the following models reached the final (in alphabetical order):
- Alfa Romeo Junior
- Citroën C3/ë-C3
- Cupra Terramar
- Dacia Duster
- Hyundai Inster
- Kia EV3
- Renault 5/Alpine A290
The decisive test drives will take place at the Mettet proving ground in Belgium. For the final vote, each member of the jury receives 25 points to distribute between five models, but one can receive a maximum of 10 points.
The final vote and announcement of the winner will take place on 10 January 2025 at the Brussels International Motor Show.
Last year's Car of the Year in Europe was the Renault Scenic, which scored 329 points in the final, ahead of the BMW 5 Series (308 points) and Peugeot 3008 (197 points).
