Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) and Glovis America have begun using Hyundai XCIENT heavy-duty hydrogen fuel cell trucks in the logistics operations of a new plant in Georgia.
The first phase involves the deployment of 21 Hyundai XCIENT trucks, which will help significantly reduce carbon emissions in Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America's logistics operations.
The XCIENTs will transport auto parts from suppliers to a consolidation centre at the plant site. The route will be expanded to cover a wider network of suppliers in the future.
Hyundai will install a mobile hydrogen refuelling station to support the operation of the hydrogen vehicles. In addition, HTWO Logistics, a joint venture between Hyundai Motor Company and Glovis America, is working on a full-fledged hydrogen production and refuelling station, which is planned to be unveiled at a later date.
