The North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of the Interior continues to rely on Ford vehicles for its police officers.

The police in North Rhine-Westphalia (Nordrhein-Westfalen, German federal state) have been operating Ford vehicles since 2019 and this time have ordered 400 Tourneo Custom units for their emergency services. This was reported by Ford's press office.

Ford is supplying the versatile vehicles with a 125 kW (170 hp) EcoBlue diesel engine, 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The police opted for the 5-seater version of the Tourneo Custom with a particularly spacious cargo area of up to 2,669 litres.

A particular highlight of the Tourneo Custom's interior is the digital interior mirror. Patrol cars will be fitted with this additional equipment, which will allow police officers to monitor the traffic behind their vehicle.

In addition, the police version of the car has blue flashing lights. These can be controlled via the standard touchscreen on the front panel.

Ford will deliver the first Tourneo Custom to the North Rhine-Westphalia Police in the fourth quarter of 2025, with a total of 400 new multi-purpose vehicles entering service by early 2026. These vehicles will complement more than 1,200 units of the Ford S-Max.
