Mitsubishi has unveiled the next generation Outlander Sport crossover in South Africa. There, the Outlander Sport will replace the morally outdated ASX, which has been on sale since 2011.

In South Africa, the new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport will be imported from Indonesia, where the crossover is sold under the name Xforce. The car is 4,390 mm long, with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm and ground clearance of 222 mm (for versions with 18-inch wheels).

All versions of the Outlander Sport for the South African market are powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 105 hp and 141 Nm of torque, which works in tandem with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), sending power to the front wheels.

GL, GLS, Aspire and Exceed trim levels are available for the model. Standard features on the GL include LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, power side mirrors, steering column adjustment, keyless entry, cloth seat upholstery, 40:20:40 folding (and reclining) rear seats, air conditioning, 8.0-inch infotainment system display, reversing camera, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, 4 airbags and hill start assist.

More expensive configurations have a 12.3-inch screen infotainment system, 18-inch discs, climate control and other equipment. A level of equipment Exceed is provided premium sound system Yamaha with 8 speakers.

The starting price for the new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is R429 900 or about $22 905.
