The 2025 model year Subaru Forester Hybrid features Subaru's next-generation electrified system and signature Symmetrical AWD all-wheel drive system.

Under the bonnet of the Subaru Forester Hybrid is a 2.5-litre petrol engine with 162 hp and 154 lb-ft (208 Nm) of torque. It is assisted by an electric motor with 118 hp and 199 lb-ft (270 Nm). In aggregate, Subaru specifies the system output at 194 hp. The electric motor is powered by a small battery pack with a capacity of 1.1 kWh. The parallel hybrid system allows limited operation in electric-only mode, although with such a small battery without starting the internal combustion engine is not far away.

A similar powertrain is already fitted to the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid. As for the Forester's fuel consumption, the manufacturer promises 35 miles per gallon in the city (6.72 l/100 km) and 34 miles per gallon on the highway (6.92 l/100 km) according to the EPA. In ideal conditions, the Forester Hybrid can travel 581 miles (935 km) on a single tank of fuel.

All 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid trims are equipped with the latest version of the EyeSight suite of driver assistance systems. The on-board system can recognise cyclists and pedestrians at intersections and, if necessary, warns the driver and applies braking to avoid collisions. Additional active safety features are also available for the Forester Hybrid, including automatic braking when reversing, blind spot monitoring when changing lanes, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster compatible with Apple Maps navigation in addition to an 11.6-inch multimedia system screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless are supported.

The new Subaru Forester Hybrid will go on sale in the U.S. in spring 2025 with prices starting at $34,995.
