Renault is officially launching a support programme for classic cars, similar to the Ferrari Classiche and Porsche Classic. The main aim of the programme is to increase the value of classic Renaults, make their servicing more affordable and of higher quality, and promote the brand's historic models.
The initiative is creating a network of certified technical centres that will specialise in specific models. For example, owners of a 1970s Renault 5 will be able to contact mechanics who know the ins and outs of servicing this car.
The first phase of the programme will cover eight workshops in France. In the future, Renault wants to expand the network to 25 service centres, so that 80% of the population will have access to specialists within a radius of 100 km. The programme will later be scaled up internationally.
Renault has also opened free access to 50 original car repair manuals, which will greatly simplify the restoration of classic models. Additionally, the company has released a series of video tutorials for owners and mechanics.
Arnaud Belloni, Renault's marketing director, presented the initiative at the Rétromobile show. He stressed that similar programmes by Ferrari and Porsche have already proven effective in the collector car sector. According to him, historical heritage is a strategic asset for the brand, especially against the backdrop of competition from upstart Chinese manufacturers.
