The Cochespias forum has published an image of the Volvo ES90, which was probably taken during the official photo shoot. The design is not a surprise - Volvo's new flagship sedan looks very similar to the Polestar 2, although it is built on a completely different platform.

The exterior design of the Volvo ES90 is not surprising: the rear quarter design, mirror arrangement, low overhangs and lighting technology with T-shaped daytime running lights are similar to the Polestar 2 softback.

In details, the similarity of Volvo ES90 and Polestar 2 is so strong that it is possible to assume unification. However, appearances are deceptive: the new sedan is based on the 800-volt SPA3 platform, while the Polestar 2 is built on the 400-volt CMA platform. The closest technically similar model to the ES90 will be the five-metre Volvo EX90 crossover.

At the moment it is known that the Volvo ES90 will be able to charge quickly (up to 300 kilometres in ten minutes), and the version with a 106 kilowatt-hour battery will provide a range of up to 700 kilometres in the WLTP cycle. Two-motor all-wheel drive is also announced, as well as an advanced on-board computer with a computing power of 508 tops.

The official premiere of the Volvo ES90 will take place on 5 March. Then we'll learn more details about this intriguing car. Perhaps even the pricing.
