The American company AM General has presented a concept of an upgraded version of the legendary army HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle), called the HUMVEE Future Driven (4-CT).

The proposed HMMWV upgrade project focuses on improving crew safety, ergonomics and adaptation to modern threats on the battlefield.

The main innovation was the MARS (MBrace and RollTek System) system, which is a specialised seat that minimises the risk of injury in the event of a mine explosion or vehicle rollover. In such situations, the system automatically secures passengers, tightens seat belts and activates side airbags.

In addition, the HMMWV was equipped with the Kongsberg Protector SR4 combat module and Axon's DedroneOnTheMove drone countermeasure system. This should increase the survivability of the armoured vehicle in modern combat, where attack drones are playing an increasingly important role.

Visually, there are also changes - the design of the hood, front bumper and headlights have been updated.

AM General has not yet specified whether this is a completely new model or an upgrade package for existing HMMWVs. The public presentation of the vehicle took place at the AUSA exhibition in Huntsville (Alabama), which runs from 25 to 27 March.
