The three coupled Honda Passport TrailSport (2026) was lifted above the ground by a 140-foot (42-metre) crane. According to Honda, in the air, the front bumper of the first TrailSport was about 100 feet (30 metres) off the ground and its towing loops held more than 14,000 pounds (6,350 kg). The video embedded below shows how it happened:
The TrailSport is one of the fourth-generation versions of the Honda Passport. It gets 31-inch all-terrain tyres, specially tuned suspension, steel underbody protection plates and, of course, sturdy towing loops. To prove their reliability, Honda bundled the three TrailSport's together, drained all the fluids and lifted them into the air.
Designed for off-roading, pickup trucks and SUVs often have open loops to help get them out of a tight spot. However, Honda went a step further and designed the TrailSport's front hitch points with added safety in mind. These metal pieces have an innovative design that allows them to break away in the event of a frontal collision.
The 2026 model year Honda Passport is already available for sale in the United States. The base RTL version is priced from $46,200. The TrailSport and TrailSport Elite versions are priced from $49,900 and $53,900 respectively.
