Christian von Koenigsegg builds some of the fastest hypercars in the world, but drives a compact Toyota hot-hatch with a three-cylinder engine to work.

A recent Instagram post revealed that the founder of Koenigsegg uses a Toyota GR Yaris as his daily commuting car.

In the video, Koenigsegg jokes, "Three-cylinder madness in the morning" - and demonstrates his morning commute, including changing gears before pulling into his company's property.

The GR Yaris driven by Koenigsegg is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 280 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Koenigsegg has chosen Japanese cars for personal use. He famously drove a Mazda MX-5 during his college years, and even bought back his former car in 2019 after years of separation.

While the GR Yaris is far from a typical car for a Toyota known for mass-market models, it clearly provides enough fun to motivate the creator of some of the world's fastest cars to get behind the wheel in the morning.
