Citroën has unveiled a new version of the Ami Buggy electric beach car. Unlike the previous limited edition model of the same name, the new Ami Buggy will be a permanent part of the range.

The presented model is inspired by the concept shown at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. Some spectacular elements, including off-road tyres and an LED roof bar, did not make it to the production version. Otherwise, the Buggy inherited original design elements from the standard Ami with round headlights and decorative "gills" in the style of the classic 2CV.

The main feature is the absence of the usual doors. They are replaced by black metal tubes on hinges. For rainy weather there are additional fabric covers with zips and folding roof. Other differences include a roof spoiler and 14-inch gold-coloured steel wheels.

The flagship version is called Ami Buggy Palmeira. It is easily recognisable by the black and yellow stickers on the wheel arches and glazing, as well as the yellow double chevron logo. The interior features yellow accents: three storage bins, a bag hook, mats, door nets and a smartphone holder. Also included is an Andy robot figure with a bouncing head.

Technically, the Ami Buggy does not differ from the standard model:

  • 8 hp electric motor.
  • Maximum speed: 45 km/h
  • Battery: 5.5 kWh
  • Range: up to 75 km
  • Charging time from a 220 V socket: 4 hours

The updated Citroën Ami range also includes a cargo version of the Ami Cargo LCV and a modification of the Ami for All, adapted for wheelchair users. An aftermarket Cargo Pack is also available, transforming the saloon into a compact van with a volume of up to 340 litres.

Orders for the updated Citroën Ami range will start on 6 May across Europe. Prices:

  • Base Ami - from €7,990
  • Ami Buggy from €9,590.
  • The flagship Buggy Palmeira - from €9,990

Citroën has sold 75,000 Ami units in 18 countries since the model's launch in 2020.
