The five-millionth Fabia, an entry-level model that has played a key role in the brand's modern history, has recently rolled off the assembly line at Skoda Auto's plant in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic.

Since its debut in 1999, the Fabia, along with the Octavia, has become one of the symbols of a revived brand, offering customers space, practicality and thoughtful solutions at a reasonable price. Today, the model is in its fourth generation, and the manufacturer has no reason to abandon it. Skoda has promised to continue production of the Fabia with internal combustion engines beyond 2030.

Skoda Fabia is consistently among the best-selling models of the brand. In 2024, it ranked third in terms of sales, selling 117,100 vehicles worldwide. Its history began at the 1999 Frankfurt Motor Show, where a five-door hatchback on the Volkswagen Group's new platform was presented. The following year, a station wagon version was introduced, and in 2001, a saloon was launched.

The first generation (1999-2008): based on the PQ24 platform, it featured a wide range of engines and bodies. In 2003, the Fabia RS was introduced with a 1.9 TDI diesel engine (96 kW).

Second generation (2007-2014): it became longer and taller, the Scout wagon and the RS version with a 1.4 TSI petrol engine (132 kW) were added. In 2011, a more premium Monte Carlo trim level was introduced.

Third generation (2014-2022): changed proportions, switched to the PQ26 platform and received modern safety systems, including adaptive cruise control and driver fatigue monitoring. After a restyling in 2018, the model was first equipped with LED headlights and blind spot monitoring.

Fourth generation (from 2021): built on the MQB A0 platform, increased in length (over 4.1 m), increased trunk volume (up to 380 litres). It is optionally equipped with the Travel Assist 2.0 driving assistance system, an automatic parking system, as well as sign recognition and pedestrian and cyclist protection systems.

In addition to its popularity among private buyers, the Fabia has also achieved success in motorsport. The various versions - Fabia Rally2, Rally2 evo and RS Rally2 - are considered to be among the most successful rally cars in their class.
