Mazda, together with its Chinese partner Changan, has launched a new version of the EZ-6 sedan for the Chinese market.

The Mazda EZ-6 Sports Edition has an aggressive design. The model is available as a 100% electric vehicle and in a version with a hybrid powertrain with an extended range (Range Extender).

The electric version develops 258 hp (190 kW), while the hybrid with a 1.5-litre internal combustion engine produces 218 hp (160 kW). Both versions are front-wheel drive.

The new Sports Edition differs from the standard EZ-6 versions by its glossy black body trim, 19-inch black alloy wheels and red calipers. The interior features Alcantara inserts, red stitching and original decorative accents.

In addition, Mazda has added red interior lighting and centre console trim with a mesh pattern similar to that used in the CX-60 crossover's sporty trims. The equipment includes:

  • 14.6-inch touchscreen multimedia system,
  • a 50-inch augmented reality projection display powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset,
  • Sony audio system with 14 speakers.

For now, the Sports Edition will be offered exclusively in the Chinese market, where Mazda is promoting the EZ-6 line under a localised brand. The European version of a similar model is available only in an electric version called the 6e.
