The TBug is powered by an opposition motor with less than 80bhp. But that's not the point of the project, according to Twisted founder Charles Fawcett: "It's about the true connection between the driver, the car and the road. Modern cars isolate us from the process. TBug brings back the purity of the experience."
The car has a heavily reinforced and sealed chassis, long-travel suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers, BF Goodrich off-road tyres, heavy-duty brakes and distinctive Baja styling. The wheels are from EMPI and the interior is completely handcrafted. Trim options range from leather to Alcantara. Customisation is also possible.
TBug
The TBug looks deliberately cartoonish thanks to its compact size, distinctive front end and modern LED optics. But despite the image, it's a complete off-road machine.
As Fawcett admitted, the idea was born when he was a kid, inspired by the Baja Bug posters that hung in his sister's room. "Those cars were rebellious, capable and just so damn fun," he says.
No price has been announced yet, but given Twisted's philosophy and hand-built build, the TBug won't be cheap.
