A new era of BMW design starts with the electric crossover iX3, debuting by the end of 2025. But this will not be the only vehicle in the Bavarian brand’s lineup that adopts the Neue Klasse look. According to the group’s chief designer Adrian van Hooydonk, every BMW will get a "new" face - and soon.
In an interview with Autocar, van Hooydonk stated that the new BMW design language will be implemented across every model. The 5 Series sedan will be the first car to receive the new look as part of a facelift. Following it will be the X5, 2 Series, X2, 7 Series, and X7.
Product line manager Bernd Körber confirmed van Hooydonk’s statement, noting that the rollout of the new design won’t take long. It will happen "over the next three and a half years across the entire portfolio," he said.
This doesn’t mean that every BMW will have the same design. Van Hooydonk confirmed that, despite the family resemblance, each model will have its own distinctive features.
BMW initially planned to limit the Neue Klasse design language to its electric vehicles, but the company confirmed back in October that this design direction will also affect gasoline models. Judging by the concepts of Neue Klasse and Neue Klasse X presented in 2023 and 2024, new and updated vehicles will feature smaller front grilles and an overall more refined appearance.
