BMW has released a video in which the prototype of the next generation iX3 is charged with a power of up to 403 kW. This even exceeds the officially stated maximum of 400 kW.

In the video - the still camouflaged electric SUV being plugged in for charging. The power rises quickly and reaches its peak at 402-403 kW. This is an extraordinary value for non-Chinese manufacturers, especially considering that current BMW models on the CLAR platform do not even come close to such figures.

The iX3 will be the first model of the new New Class series - a family of completely new electric cars developed from the ground up on the new platform of the same name. The main feature is the 800-volt architecture, which allows for much faster battery charging than before. Furthermore, these vehicles have new motors, batteries, and shared electronics.

According to calculations by BMW, the iX3 can gain about 350 km of range in the WLTP cycle with this charging power in 10 minutes. The battery is charged from 10 to 80% in 20 minutes. The maximum range is up to 800 km in the same WLTP cycle, 900 km according to the Chinese CLTC protocol, or 400 miles according to the standard EPA in the USA. For comparison: The range of the current BMW iX is about 700 km. In terms of efficiency, the new iX3 is already a step ahead.
