The refurbished CB400 batteries were initially a student project but over time evolved into an initiative for the refurbishment of high-voltage batteries in the commercial transport sector. The battery blocks are dismantled, cleaned, and refurbished according to new manufacturer standards. The control unit receives the latest software. The battery also undergoes strict functional testing and leak testing.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks positions refurbished batteries as an alternative to new ones. This extends their service life, conserves natural resources, and reduces the carbon footprint. Each battery is covered by an official warranty from Mercedes-Benz Trucks.
Daimler Truck, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, hopes that this program for reusing and recycling key automotive components will become a central element of its circular economy.
